[Editorial] Films To Ruin Your Day: Getting Fucked To Death

Why on Earth would you want to watch a film that ruins your day? Because some of us have masochistic inclinations and can’t help persecuting our mind by watching films that are horrific in nature.

Anyone that knows me knows my bizarre obsession with extreme horror films, and therefore knows that I ruin most of my days in a month by viewing these sickening sights.

The biggest request people ask is “What is the most extreme film you’ve seen?” to which the reply is usually Tamakichi Anaru’s Tumbling Doll of Flesh, but quickly remember all the other nasty movies that could be suggested to them. Therefore rather than waiting for the question to arise, I’m going to go ahead and continuously see who is brave enough to venture into the realm of disturbing and suggest some extreme films that are guaranteed to ruin your day.

Where The Dead Go To Die

Before seeing this one I genuinely asked myself how it could be possible that an animation would be so horrific. Considering it is visibly not real through its use of graphics, there just seemed to be no possibility that it would be able to wreak havoc on the mind. But Jimmy ScreamerClauz proved me exceptionally wrong with his 2012 extreme horror anthology Where The Dead Go To Die

Let’s be honest and put it this way, there were times that even I struggled to get through this one. Every anthology section in this film feels as if it wants to make you gauge your own eyes out, but in particular the segment involving a dead mother, her child and a dog. If you have more information than that, you might not even attempt this one. I recommended this to a friend who wanted to ruin their day and they lasted 20 minutes before turning it off. Your turn.

Men Behind The Sun

There is nothing cute about war crimes, which is why the 1988 film Men Behind The Sun by Mou Tun-Fei is a sure way to completely fuck your day up. Based on the real experiments  and atrocities that happened at Unit 731 in Japan during World War II, you can only expect how heavy and depressing this film is. There is nothing nice about seeing humans experimented on and having the knowledge that this shit genuinely happened to innocent people.

Subjected to inhumane torture and used like a lab rat, the people in this film are luckily actors but those that really went through this weren’t so lucky. I have not met anyone that can comfortably sit throughout this film without being visibly distressed, even those who have stomachs made of iron don’t like to get through this one. I’m in a way not recommending this, but if you’re feeling brave, I guess I’ll let you be the decider on if you go for this.

Tumbling Doll of Flesh

This is the film that I have always championed as the worst I have ever seen, which still kind of holds true but also since watching this I have seen a lot that is absolutely on the same level. Tumbling Doll of Flesh was released in 1998 and is a pornographic extreme film that isn’t really designed to get anyone feeling horny, and if you do, please seek help. What starts as a pretty average porno with pixelated tits but completely visible cum shots, ends up in depravity as the female is tortured, has limbs removed, new holes made in her and every wound fucked by the other dude.

Because it’s also shot on a hand held cam and the quality is pretty bad, it makes this one feel like you’re watching an actual snuff movie. An internet friend recommended this to me when I was starting my extreme journey and I sat in my room at 2am freaking out if I’d just casually sat and watched someone actually getting fucked to death. Thankfully not, but this one really makes you feel like a criminal after watching.

Orozco The Embalmer

The problem with this one is that I can’t talk about the entirety of the film because being brutally honest here, I could not finish this film and I’m unsure whether I’ll ever go back to this one just because it’s so grim. This one is from Kiyotaka Tsurisaki in 2001 and is a mondo Japanese film all about Frolian Orozco who, you guessed it, is an embalmer. He works in Columbia and embalms bodies, which the documentary shows in unflinching detail.

The reason I couldn’t handle this (hands down lasted 7 minutes) was that real gore just isn’t my bag and surprisingly I’m incredibly squeamish when I know it’s real. Seeing the human body being manipulated and gutted in such a manner of fact way pushed my boundaries further than ever and so I had to switch it off. Orozco the Embalmer not only shows the audience the reality of embalmer in all its gore, but reminds us of the violence happening in Columbia during that time and also how no human is safe against the violence, including children.

The Human Centipede 2

Remember when The Human Centipede first came out and everyone on the internet started freaking out about the sickest film ever made? Well that happened but it was far from the sickest film ever, especially when you’ve got ones like what I’ve just detailed. But director Tom Six decided to go a step further and really give the audience one of the sickest films ever and that’s when The Human Centipede 2 was created. Loner Martin is obsessed with the first film and decides he needs to make a 12 person centipede to satisfy his sexual needs.

This was the first film to make me physically sick, and it’s probably due to the excessive amounts of shit that features in this. If you’ve seen, or heard of Salo, you’ll be aware that it features some gratuitous shit eating, but Six decided to take that concept a step further and really get the shit flowing. Dan Martin, who created the special effects, said there was basically a checklist of how much nasty stuff they could push people with and as the film progresses, it’s easy for the viewers to start tapping out.
